My Orion Spacecraft Model
My Orion Spacecraft Model

I made this model of the Orion spacecraft, which is part of NASA’s Artemis program. Orion is designed to carry astronauts beyond Earth's orbit itself, then to the Moon.

When I built this model, I focused on showing its two main parts. The crew module is where astronauts stay in and return to Earth, and the ESM (European Service Module) provides power, oxygen, and propulsion.

One of the most interesting things about Orion is how it survives re-entry. The heat shield has to withstand extremely high temperatures, which I think is a fascinating engineering challenge.

I became interested in Orion because of the Artemis program. This program wishes to send astronauts on the Moon after 54 years of nobody being on the Moon. I think this is exciting because it is the first time in decades that humans will travel that far from Earth again.

If I improve ever have time to improve this model in the future, I would like to add more detail, especially to the solar panels, and maybe show how the spacecraft separates before re-entry.

I am interested in space engineering because it combines physics, problem-solving, and real-world challenges. I hope I can learn more about it in the future.
